Day 42, Tuesday

The Hunger Games and Morality

Topics that have been and will be discussed based on the movie:
  • Murder
  • Deceit
  • Government Control
  • Poverty
  • Human Dignity

Below is the lullaby that Katniss sings to Rue to comfort her at the moment of her death.  (This is from the book so it's a little different than what Jennifer Lawrence sang in the movie.)  This scene always gets me choked up.  Katniss is so self-less and one of those fictional characters that I try to emulate: does what she needs to do for others...thinks of herself last...self-less.  What a classy lady!

“Deep in the meadow, hidden far away
A cloak of leaves, a moonbeam ray
Forget your woes and let your troubles lay
And when it's morning again, they'll wash away
Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.”

I'm excited for a much more extensive conversation on The Hunger Games tomorrow.
